What is Weill Cornell Connect?

Weill Cornell Connect offers patients personalized and secure on-line access to portions of their medical records. It enables you to securely use the Internet to help manage and receive information about your health. With Weill Cornell Connect, you can use the Internet to:

  • Communicate electronically and securely with your medical care team.
  • Request prescription refills or specialist referrals.
  • Request, self-schedule, and manage your appointments.
  • View test results.
  • View your health summary from the Weill Cornell Connect electronic health record.
  • Pay your Weill Cornell Medicine bill.

How do I sign up?

Patients who wish to participate can request a Weill Cornell Connect activation code during their next visit. This code will enable you to sign up after creating your own Username and Password. You can also sign up without an activation code by answering security questions provided by a third-party service.

Who can participate?

Any adult age 18 or over is eligible for a Weill Cornell Connect account. In addition, parents can be given proxy access to manage their children's account. Please see the Terms and Conditions of Use for further information.

Is Weill Cornell Connect secure?

All communication between you and your healthcare provider and care team using Weill Cornell Connect is carried over a secure, encrypted connection. Encryption means the information is coded in such a way that no one can read it during transmission. This secure connection utilizes industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption. Your health records are stored behind a firewall to prohibit unauthorized access. In addition, Weill Cornell Connect access requires a Username and password that you create yourself.

I forgot my Weill Cornell Connect Username. How do I recover it?

Click here to begin the Username Recovery process. After entering your personal information, your Weill Cornell Connect Username will be sent to the email address on file for your account. If you need additional assistance, please use the Contact Our Technical Support link that appears if you enter incorrect personal information or contact your physician's office.

I forgot my Password. How do I get a new one?

Click here to begin the Password Reset process. After entering your personal information, you will be prompted with the security password you chose during the sign up process. After correctly answering this question, you will be able to create a new password. If you need additional assistance, please use the Contact Our Technical Support link that appears if you enter incorrect personal information or contact your physician's office.

When I try to login, I keep receiving the message "Login unsuccessful". What could be wrong?

Make sure your Caps Lock key is not on. The Password field is case sensitive. Make sure you do not enter extra spaces in either the Weill Cornell Connect Username or Password boxes and try again. If you have forgotten your login information, use one of the links in the two questions above.

Can you send me a new activation code as I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive it?

You can either request a new activation code during your next visit at Weill Cornell, or contact your physician's office. Privacy issues prevent us from e-mailing a new activation code to you. You can also use the Self Sign Up process without an activation code.

Where can I update my personal information (e.g., home address, phone number or e-mail)?

Log into Weill Cornell Connect and under the Health menu, click on Contact Information. If any information is incorrect, click the Change Demographics link to make updates.

When can I see my test results in Weill Cornell Connect?

Your test results are automatically released to your Weill Cornell Connect account after a set period of time. Most lab results will be released after 2 business days and most imaging results will be released after 5 business days. If the results are sensitive in nature (e.g., genetic testing or STD screening), the results will never be automatically released. Your physician can manually release results at any time after they have been reviewed. If you have any questions about test results, please contact your physician's office directly. Weill Cornell Connect Technical Support cannot discuss medical information.

Why are certain test results not shared electronically via Weill Cornell Connect?

Your provider is responsible for determining which test results can be accessed through Weill Cornell Connect, regardless of whether or not they are automatically released. If you do not see a specific test result, please contact your physician's office directly.

If some of my health information on Weill Cornell Connect is not correct, what should I do?

Your Weill Cornell Connect information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your doctor's office. Ask your doctor to correct any inaccurate information at your next visit, or send a message to the practice to request changes and updates to your health record. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record each visit.

If I send a message to my Physician's Office, when can I expect a reply?

You can expect a response within 2 business days. Please do not use Weill Cornell Connect to send any messages requiring urgent attention. For urgent medical matters, contact your doctor's office by phone or call 911.

What is proxy access?

Proxy access is when you access the medical record of another patient in Weill Cornell Connect. Examples may include a mother accessing her daughter’s chart, a husband accessing his wife’s chart, or a caregiver accessing the chart of his or her patient. The person accessing the chart is known as the proxy.

Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my Weill Cornell Connect account?

No, you should not ask questions regarding a family member from your Weill Cornell Connect account. Weill Cornell Connect offers direct access to your personal health record and communicating about another individual's information would be placed in your health record. This information would not appear in the correct health record and could potentially jeopardize medical care.

Can my spouse and I share one Weill Cornell Connect account?

No, due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must sign and submit a Release of Information request and establish their own Weill Cornell Connect account.

Can I connect to external apps through Weill Cornell Connect?

Patients can connect their Weill Cornell Connect account to 3rd party apps through a standard called FHIR. If an app that you use says that it can use FHIR to work with your doctor's record system, Weill Cornell Connect supports it. Follow the instructions supplied by the app to add your Weill Cornell Connect information.

I was logged out of Weill Cornell Connect. What happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and the security of your information. While logged into Weill Cornell Connect, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of Weill Cornell Connect. We recommend that you log out of your Weill Cornell Connect session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

My activation code does not work, what should I do?

For your security, your activation code expires after 30 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If you still have problems, please use the Contact Our Technical Support link that appears if you enter incorrect personal information or contact your physician's office.

Is my activation code my Username?

No, your activation code is not your Weill Cornell Connect Username or Password. You will use this code only once during the Sign Up process. (The code will expire after you have used it or after 30 days). During the Sign Up process, you will be asked to create your own unique Weill Cornell Connect Username and Password.

I am not receiving email messages notifying me when new information is available in Weill Cornell Connect. Why not?

The messages may be marked as Spam. If notifications from Weill Cornell Connect are going to your Spam folder, follow the steps below for both Gmail and Yahoo e-mail accounts to mark the message as safe:

  • Click on the Spam folder on the left hand side.
  • Check off the e-mail from do_not_reply_wcc@med.cornell.edu and click the "Not Spam" button.
